Adding Your First Item
This is the moment Lootero starts feeling magical. You’re about to catalogue your first real treasure and watch Lootero’s AI do most of the work for you.
Step 1: Open your collection and add an item
- Go to the Collections tab.
- Tap your collection (the one you just renamed).
- Tap the Items tab inside the collection (it will say “0 items”).
- Tap the big blue + Add button.
Step 2: Take or choose a photo
This is where Lootero shines.
- Tap the camera icon → take a photo of your item or choose one from your gallery.
As soon as the photo uploads, two things happen automatically:
- Lootero’s AI scans the image and tries to fill in Item Name and Description for you.
- If this exact item (or a very close match) already exists in Lootero’s “Gold Record” database (thousands of popular coins, watches, cards, comics, etc.), it will pre-fill almost every field with the best-known data.
You’ll literally see fields populate in front of your eyes.
Step 3: Fill (or correct) the important fields
Even with AI help, quickly check these:
- Item Name – make it exactly how you want to see it forever
- Brand/Maker (e.g. Rolex, The Perth Mint, Marvel, Château Lafite)
- Year Made
- Condition (Mint, Near Mint, Excellent, Good, etc.)
- Grading (if officially graded – PSA 10, NGC MS70, etc.)
- Country of Origin
- Any other fields you care about (Serial Number, Variant, etc.)
If something isn’t in the dropdown, just type it – Lootero remembers custom entries.
Step 4: The “Public” toggle – decide who sees it
Top-right of the screen is a slider: Public (default ON).
- ON → this item appears in the global Collector’s Feed (great for showing off and getting likes).
- OFF → completely private, only you can see it.
Items without a photo are automatically hidden from the feed.
Step 5: The private section (only you ever see this)
Scroll to the very bottom – this part is 100% private and never shared.
Fill in as much as you know:
- Date Acquired (when you bought/traded/got it)
- Storage Location (e.g. “Bank safe deposit box”, “Wine fridge rack 3”, “Bedroom display case”)
- Quantity (how many identical ones you own)
- Total Cost (what you actually paid for all of them combined)
- Your Estimated Value (what you think it’s worth today)
These numbers feed Lootero’s AI so it can give you accurate monthly valuations and profit/loss tracking.
Step 6: Hit Save
Tap Save
You’ll see your item appear instantly with a little “public” eye icon if it’s set to show in the feed.
Step 7: Watch the AI value appear (usually within minutes, max 24 h)
Tap your new item → scroll to the bottom.
You’ll see a section that says “Researching…” or “We need more info”. Once Lootero finishes (usually fast for popular items), you’ll get:
- Lootero’s official estimated value
- A mini monthly trend graph
- Push notification from LootBot when it updates each month.
